What is JAV Video?
I have some JAV Movies, How Do I Trade at the Emporium?
What is VCD (Video CD) and Why?
What is the difference between Silver, CD-R Media and Original Japanese VCD's?
  • Silver HK/China CD's - (Most common)are mass produced in Hong Kong, and are copies of either original JAV CD's from Japan, or custom made in Hong Kong or China. Sometimes "original" silvers will have a silk screened pictures on them. Average Price point is around $30-40 dollars, they are mass imported by many companies on the internet, and are the most commonly found VCD's for sale on the net. They will most often come with color copied covers, glossy although recently many cd's coming from Hong Kong are on CD-R.
  • CD-R Media - Comes in many colors, green, blue, gold and now silver. These are blank cd's used in much smaller capacity CD Burners, than the mass produced HK factories. The media is of a higher quality, and therefore slightly more expensive to purchase, the layers inside are made from a thin sheet of gold, as opposed to aluminimum like in mass pressed cds. But either way a CD-R Copy of an orignal is a 100% exact duplicate, and you will notice no quality loss in viewing them. There is one drawback to CD-R, which only becomes an issue if you are playing the CD's in a first generation DVD-ROM or Stand-alone player. Due to the technology difference in the laser used to read DVD's in the first generation of players, these players cannot properly read CD-R Media. If you are unsure if you're player supports CD-R Media check the manual, or you can look on the VCD FAQ. The CD-R Media used at the Trade Emporium is made by Mitsui, and has a lifetime guarentee.
  • Original Japanese VCD - These are most easily identified by their professional finished look, as well as a full jewel case, including a small standard title wrap (A small folder piece of paper put over the side of the CD to identify the title). All original Japanese CD's are pressed in Japan, and are of the highest quality. They generally come with a booklet (or at least a 2 page fold out), and have a finished polished look of a regular music CD. You can expect to pay up to $60 or more for these direct imports from japan. Only a few places on the net sell them, www.jlist.com sells original Japanese CDs. Most of the other stores are all HK imports. But once again, an HK import or CD-R copy of an Original Japanese should retain the same quality of picture/sound as the original. That is the beauty of digital technology. Copies are 100% perfect.

Is it better to ship, with or without Jewel Cases?
  • Jewel Cases have always been a lousy way of protecting cd's. Often Jewel cases get damaged in Shipping, leaving little broken plastic bits floating around to possibly scratch the cd. This usually won't happen with 4-5 Jewel cases or less in a package.
  • On any shipments over 4-5 items, it's recommended that you choose to ship without jewel cases.
  • Shipping without jewel cases will clears customs faster and will hopefully arrive earlier. On shipments up to 10-12 cd's shipped without jewel cases, can be sent as an airmail letter, which does not require any customs forms. This is almost always the fastest way of shipping.
  • When CD's are shipped without the jewel cases, they are packaged within their cardboard/paper sleeve, and put inside a tightly sealed plastic cd jacket. This ensures that the cd's will not move around during shipping, and will not be damaged. CD's will never be placed directly ontop of each other. All CD's with or without jewel cases are shipping in plain orange bubble padded shipping envelopes.
  • On orders of 2 cd's or less, it's recommended that they are shipped with a jewel case.
